Moored

White yacht moored at a marina under a soft pink sunset sky, a boathouse visible across the water.

A boat tied up while the sky puts on its show.

It could have gone anywhere and instead it stayed, which felt about right for that year. The water barely moved. I have always liked boats better at rest than in motion.

Pavilion

Waterfront pavilion and moored boats sit beneath a pink and gold sky as the sun goes down over the lake.

The old harbour restaurant holding the last of the pink.

Snug Harbour sits right at the water where the boats come in, and at that hour the whole front of it went soft and pink. I stood on the far side of the marina and let the light do its slow thing. Some evenings you just wait for the colour to finish.

Long walk

Weathered plank boardwalk runs between lamp posts and blue benches toward the water at sunset.

A boardwalk running straight out into the evening at Port Credit, Mississauga.

The pier pointed at the horizon like it had somewhere to be. I walked the length of it slowly and let the day finish around me. These are the walks I remember, the ones with no destination.
